Math Teacher - MS/HS

The South Glens Falls CSD has a full-time tenure track position for a math teacher. This position is split between the middle school and high school.

All newly employed teacher's placement on the salary schedule is determined by education and prior experience. Recent experience in the certification area to which the individual is to be appointed and in a public school system similar to South Glens Falls is granted year for year. Permanent Building Substitute Teacher (Elementary and MS)

The district has a vacancy for Permanent Building Substitute Teachers at the elementary schools and middle school for the 2024-2025 school year. 

In an effort to accommodate for the lack of substitute teachers available, the district and Faculty Association agree that there is a need to create a full time per diem substitute position in each of the elementary schools.The South Glens Falls School District has the ability to create a "Full Time Per Diem Substitute" position to provide substitute coverage, on an as needed basis.  A full time per diem substitute will be hired for a full year.  This position will not provide coverage for long term vacancies.  

This position is not in the SGFFA bargaining unit.

Pay is Step 1 BA per diem for each day worked.

Microcomputer Technician

The District has a vacancy for a Microcomputer Technician located in the Technology department.  This is a competitive Civil Service position which requires the applicant to be on a current Civil Service list for Microcomputer Technician or to be able to complete the required examination.  Applicants must be a high school graduate with four years of successful experience working with computer hardware equipment.

 General Duties:

  • Installs, checks and tests new computer hardware equipment

  • Responds to calls for hardware and software problems; diagnoses problems and determines the most cost effective method for solving problems

  • Implements corrective action and/or repair of hardware and software problems.  Discusses repair issues with BOCES LAN Technician and Building Administration

  • Operates a help desk for all users of computer equipment

  • Assist in the preparation of specifications for all computer hardware equipment

  • Assist in maintaining all local area networks, internet connections and the district-wide area network

  • Maintain an inventory of computer parts

  • Prepare various reports and financial records

  • Attend various meetings such as Technology Committee, Board of Education and meetings where technology equipment is reviewed

 

Experience: 

  • Basic Knowledge of and the ability to grow expertise related to commonly used data management tools and curriculum software commonly used by educators (i.e., Google application and more)

  • Must have excellent organizational skills

  • Must be able to deal with a variety of individuals

  • Needs to have the ability to organize several tasks simultaneously

  • Experience in computer hardware repair 

  • Networking

 

Essential Knowledge/Skills & Abilities:  Thorough knowledge of microcomputer hardware including local and wide area networks and applications software; good knowledge of the principles and practices of diagnosis; maintenance and repair of computer hardware equipment and related peripheral devices; good communication skills; ability to express ideas clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing; ability to interact with individuals in a team environment; strong interpersonal skills; tact, courtesy and physical condition commensurate to perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations.  

Salary:  Full-time, 12 month,  Annual Salary starting at: $40,000.  Applicable benefits pursuant to current Managerial Confidential Handbook.

Teacher's Aide - Substitute

The district continuously recruits for substitute teacher's aide. The positions are considered temporary as they are annual appointments based on IEP needs.

GENERAL DUTIES:  

Assist the teacher and student in the performance of their functions by performing varied duties associated with teaching and learning. Examples of duties are: 

  • Prepare instructional materials 
  • Collect and arrange displays 
  • Assist teacher in special demonstrations and assignments
  • Supervise and work with students and groups 
  • Maintain records that require use of a computer/technology 
  • Inventory materials 
  • Type and collate materials and documents 
  • Operate photocopy machines 
  • Catalog and file documents
  • Distribute books and supplies 
  • Procure and return A-V equipment 
  • Maintain bulletin boards
  • Assist with school clerical work 

 

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES:

Substitute - Registered Nurse

GENERAL DUTIES:  

  • Provide skilled nursing services as needed and requested

  • Carry out nursing duties to maintain student health, prevention of injury, perform first aid treatment of injuries and illness that occur while students are in school

  • Administer daily medications as prescribed

  • Maintain all health related documentation in School Tool for student encounters

  • Continuous communication with parents/guardians regarding medical concerns and other pertinent information.

  • Notify parents/guardians immediately of illness or injury.

  • Communicate with building nurses regarding any student/staff concerns encountered

  • Possible Full day coverage at any SGF School Health office if needed and available

  • Carry out other tasks and duties as assigned.
