Computer Aide

The district has a vacancy for a computer aide at Ballard Elementary.

Position Overview:

The Computer Aide serves as a member of the District Information Technology Department  and works with building administrators, teachers, and students of the assigned building. Duties include supporting school staff, students and the technology department to integrate technology in the curriculum and maintain technology resources throughout  the building.

 

Specific Responsibilities:

Instructional:

  • Collaborates with Library Media Specialist on digital literacy and other curricular needs.
  • Present instruction prepared by a licensed teacher and assist students in proper usage of computer hardware and instructional software. 
  • Assists teachers in planning and implementing lessons using the computer as an educational tool. Push into classrooms to support instructional technology in lessons.
  • Provide one-on-one instructional assistance to students using the computers. 
  • Uses computer knowledge and skill to assist students and staff with the generation and creation of various computer-based media (documents, graphics, formulas, music, video). 
  • Assist with training, scheduling, monitoring, and data collection for computer-based testing. 
  • Assists students in using computers for tasks assigned by classroom teachers (internet research, computer-assisted presentations, essays, school newsletters, etc). 
  • Support morning announcements
  • Facilitator of student run tech help desk in-conjunction with the Tech Team

Technology Support

  • Run the tech help desk
  • Oversee computer labs and portable computer carts.  Maintain computers throughout the building.
  • Repair chromebooks and breakage
  • Oversee digital signage
  • Troubleshooting and maintenance of computer hardware and other school technology (document cameras, copiers, printers, etc.)
  • Keep the computer lab, workstations, and other technological areas clean and orderly. 
  • Provides first line technical support in troubleshooting computer connectivity, security and password issues; 
  • Maintains and troubleshoots equipment problems, not requiring a trained technician, such as smartboards, printers, scanners, wireless devices etc.

Other Duties

  • Follows and maintains knowledge of all District policy(ies) and procedures. 
  • Reads current professional publications to keep informed of rapid developments in field of computer assisted instruction; 
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of available computer software and computer usage in schools; upgrades computer skills as needed. 
  • Assists building administrators with communication to the community and within the building using technology (School messenger, daily updates, online calendars, online newsletters, social media, lobby monitors,  etc.)
  • Regularly review school webpage on the district website for errors, inoperative links, and outdated materials.
  • Other duties as assigned building administration and District Information Technology Department
