Description:
This is a highly important clerical position involving responsibility for independently performing complex clerical operations and administrative support tasks in the Guidance Office at South Glens Falls High School. A substantial amount of time is spent operating a computer and doing routine administrative tasks to ensure the efficient workflow of the office. The work involves responsibility for the entry and retrieval of information using software on a computer and using a computer to produce printed material. Work is performed under supervision of the Director of Counseling and Building Principal/Assistant Principals in accordance with outlined policies and procedures. Technical or policy issues are referred to the Principal for decision or review of judgment where recommendations are initiated.

This is a competitive Civil Service position which requires the applicant to be on a current Civil Service List for School Secretary, or be able to complete the required examination. Applicants must be high school graduates with three years of successful clerical experience involving the operation of a computer for word processing, database or spreadsheet applications or have an Associate Degree in secretarial science or a closely related field and one year of successful clerical experience involving the operation of a computer for word processing, database or spreadsheet applications.
