We’re seeking an energetic speaker with a passion for high school sports to deliver live play-by-play for football and basketball games. This part-time role involves providing clear, unbiased commentary and enhancing the game-day experience for fans.
Key Responsibilities
Provide accurate, professional live commentary during football and basketball games.
For basketball, announce player scoring, fouls, free throw attempts, substitutions, and time-outs.
Deliver information during appropriate stoppages (timeouts, between quarters). (ie. 50/50, concession stand being open)
Provide rosters, starting lineups, coaches, and officials pre-game, and make pre-scripted announcements (e.g., sportsmanship reminders).
Arrive at least 30–60 minutes before game time.
Meet with coaches to confirm pronunciation of names and gather rosters.
Maintain a neutral and factual tone—never take sides or act as a cheerleader.
Be professional, calm, respectful and dress appropriately at all times.
If emergencies arise (e.g. severe injuries, weather), deliver instructions clearly and calmly.
Part-time position: pay typically per game or per hour.
Compensation $30/hr.
Evening and weekend work required
Strong verbal communication skills with clear, articulate delivery.
Deep knowledge of football and basketball rules, positions, strategies.
Demonstrated ability to think quickly and articulate live action in real time.
Excellent organizational skills: preparation of rosters.
Ability to work flexible hours (nights, weekends, some vacation days/holidays); reliable attendance.
Fall Athletics:
Football - 4 or 5 games
Soccer - Girls and Boys - 4 total (2 games each)
Basketball - Girls and Boys - 20 games (10 each)
Some playoff games
Prior announcing or PA experience preferred—but enthusiastic newcomers with passion and preparation welcomed.
